I had a wonderful time! Dia was very helpful and supportive while creating a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. It was like sitting down with an old friend, but with watercolors. I was a little nervous since this was my first very public outing since COVID, but she's very sweet and put me at ease. I learned a lot about my technique and she provided informative feedback. I left feeling a lot better about my abilities.

I was interested in trying Gansai Tambi granulating water colors on Mineral paper and wanted to explore various brush strokes and palette knife applications.I only used one color from the GT granulation color, Aurora Blue. The entire piece was painted using just that one color.

I painted this to commemorate an amazing mentor. - my college philosophy professor. This is actually Nietzsche, someone he deeply admired. Since I admired my professor, it seemed fitting to paint this in his memory. He passed away after I graduated, but his impact on my college education stayed with me forever.

Having trained as an architect and planner where logic generally rules, I spent 20 years thinking I wasn?t doing art right because it didn?t look perfect! Since inks and watercolors lend themselves to messiness, I have embraced imperfect painting and I push myself to try dramatic colors and backgrounds. This painting required patience, but was also fun to create and rewarding to complete.
