I had a wonderful time! Dia was very helpful and supportive while creating a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. It was like sitting down with an old friend, but with watercolors. I was a little nervous since this was my first very public outing since COVID, but she's very sweet and put me at ease. I learned a lot about my technique and she provided informative feedback. I left feeling a lot better about my abilities.

Having trained as an architect and planner where logic generally rules, I spent 20 years thinking I wasn?t doing art right because it didn?t look perfect! Since inks and watercolors lend themselves to messiness, I have embraced imperfect painting and I push myself to try dramatic colors and backgrounds. This painting required patience, but was also fun to create and rewarding to complete.

Taken at local park as sun was setting. The light as the sun was setting reminded me of a painting from a tutorial I had previously worked on. It was reminiscent of the French countryside and was something that looked so peaceful.

Once COVID hit, and we knew we weren't going anywhere, my family & I decided to get chickens. We picked out these 3 chicks from a local farm. We created a brooder in our living room, and my kids enjoyed creating a parkour/maze for them to run around in. During a moment of rest, I captured a photo of them & knew that I wanted to paint it one day. Additional info - watercolor on Arches, size 8x8

My parents met on a beach in La Jolla as teens in the early 1940s they married, built their home there in 1958, when I was 4 years old. I grew up there, my children would visit their grandparents there. My parents are gone now. I own the house now and my parents great grandchildren come to visit me. So many beach memories now! Taking a walk through wild flowers blooming above the beach is still a delight to me at age 70. And being able to use watercolor to paint the beauty I grew up with is

I have an interest in Mid-century Modern house designs. Bringing nature into the space through structural elements, including large windows, is wonderful. This watercolor painting is an experiment in connecting values of the structure and the landscape in a harmonizing way that is still exciting to the viewer.

As an ardent enthusiast of Western Australia's bushland, I frequently explore its vast expanses. On one such occasion, I decided to visit the John Forrest National Park, named in honor of Lord John Forrest, a celebrated explorer and Western Australia's first premier. This park holds a special place in my heart, and I have had the pleasure of visiting it twice. One of my most memorable excursion, accompanied by my husband and friends in April, was a resplendent experience. As we strolled towa
